Often, the men in his paintings are engaged in struggle, or isolated as objects of desire. His compositions feature single and multiple figures set against stark, abstracted environments. Some of these figures include mythological heroes, bruised and bloodied athletes, a deified lover, and slumbering young men. Lance teaches at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He works in oil, acrylic, pastel, collage, encaustic, photography, and a variety of printmaking techniques. He is participating in Modern Eden Gallery's group show "Momento Mori" in San Francisco, August 20 - September 21, 2011.
