Since launching back in 2011 we have quickly gained a reputation for hosting excellent quality exhibitions and giving artists the chance to breakthrough.

We provide guidance & assistance to artists, and promote both artists and art through our website, art publications, press coverage, exhibitions and selected art fairs. We also assist with the publishing of your work.

Applying is free and simple. In the first instance email us images of your work or send a pdf portfolio, a brief artist c.v and any additional relevant information. Email: info@theartcollective.com

The main focus of my work is the Urban Landscape. I am fascinated by its dynamic ability to affect our mental state through colour and composition. Although I can trace the emergence of it as a subject in my work, pre-2001, it wasn't until studying as an undergraduate that my ideas about the urban landscape were fully formulated and realised. I won't go into to much detail here as the ideas underlying my individual pieces can be read in the gallery's accompanying write up, but, W. Clement Stone once wrote "You are a product of your environment". Generally the rest of the quote is often forgotten about and although maybe relevant, it was this single line that got me thinking about how we perceive the urban landscape. I am interested in breaking down the urban landscape and my work highlights the way in which we look at the built environment; not only as a place to dwell but as an entity that is able to influence us, as much as we influence it.

I am probably what you might call an 'older' artist ! I graduated in 2010 from Plymouth Uni with a BA in photography. i am now 38 !! I create images both in digital and analogue and have worked on various projects over the time. The work that I have directed you to on the Tumblr is my main interest. I produce work from the 120 roll of film that is left in my wonky Baronica square format camera, from the previous shoot, that may have been a few months before. This project is done with the most basic equipment and no flash although I do scan the negatives and post edit in photoshop. Deciding what makes an image tangible is a big question because I still have a massive love for analogue photography. I question what photography is for me. Is it the feel of the negative, the grain within the print, the moment of captured time, of the light of the day or the mood of the space? And then I wonder ultimately what another person may find in the image I made. Does it have an effect on them? And this is why I am now bring my work to you. With anticipation, Sx
